REVIEWS on our CD «Kyrillis»

jazzthetik, September 2007:  ... But when Lemke-Nendza-Hillmann gets a grip on the roots of jazz music with all its authentic rhythms like in their tune «Steve's Back» this does not simply show their versed handling with tradition.  Even the in spirit consulted Steve Coleman would prick his ears in view of this knowledge of his Afro-American ancestors.
Guido Fischer

gitarre & bass, September 2007: There is a European jazz-life outside Scandinavia!
it

Lübecker Nachrichten, July 2007: ... Lemke-Nendza-Hillmann do think a lot about their jazz music, they are searching for roots,  researching on masterpieces, hunting through the ideas of their predecessors. They are toying with their idols and thus constructing, with an complete folkloric range and out of  their immense and colorful kaleidoscope-knowledge, new and unorthodox visions. «Kyrillis» simply is an extremely thrilling album!
Kati Hofacker

Deutschlandfunk, May 2007: ... the music remains transparent, open and very rhythmical. At the same time we find exciting dialogs between saxophone and violin, but also with bass, percussion and drums.
Anja Buchmann

Jazz Twenty 5 (WDR5), May 2007: ... Dominique Pifarély - a perfect choice for this kind of music between Modern Jazz and so-called ethnic music.

REVIEWS on our debut-CD «El Arte»

Congratulations on a job well done! I just finished 57:20 minutes with Herr Lemke and must say that I am most pleased and impressed with your efforts and the efforts of your comrades. Out of the 12 offerings, I would say that Numbers 6, 8 and 9 might have been my favorites. I do, however, like the title tune El Arte.which is artfully crafted and performed. The afore mentioned favorites seemed provide me with a deeper sense of your real understanding (and chops) of what the term jazz implies. I think that's the area that gives me my greatest challenge with newer, freer and less structured concepts of what might be included under the "jazz umbrella"! For certain, the entire range of compositions on your CD are all written and played at an extremely high level. Evaluating any music at best is most probably based on the concepts and experiences that each listener brings to the performance. I certainly think you accomplished a very difficult task in successfully creating an almost infinite variety of musical sounds and combinations with a limited number of players. That's a real challenge well met!
